Bringing it Home

My Mother is 68 years old, and frankly has struggled to find dignified employment, that gives her a sense of purpose and pride.

I got home from my trip to Charleston, told my mother all about the oysters and my seedling of an idea. She was so excited, she wanted to try it out with me and that was when the spat took hold.

We spent the weekend after Thanksgiving crafting oysters, what fun and rewarding work! I decided to start bringing them to our kitchen at Meritage to serve tasting menu courses in.

We realized there were a variety of things to use the oysters for. Food presentation, trinket tray, art on its own and available to be displayed even with a stand. I decided to give them as gifts to our Meritage Krewe, and create interesting Christmas ornaments. We are planning for wind chimes and more.
